IGI World’s First w/ ISO Accreditation for
Lab-Grown & Natural Diamonds

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards, has certified IGI with the ISO 17025 accreditation for lab-grown diamonds, making IGI’s laboratories the world’s first to hold ISO accreditation for both natural and lab-grown diamonds.

Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the ISO includes 165 participating countries and nearly 800 technical committees and subcommittees overseeing standards development. Their 17025 laboratory competence certification is perhaps the single most important standard for calibration and testing laboratories across the globe, covering all laboratory environments, regardless of the number of employees or the extent of the testing.

A Landmark Accomplishment

Achieved only after a series of stringent checks and rigorous audits, obtaining this certification further showcases IGI’s expertise in gemological services and reinforces that consumers can trust jewelry that has been evaluated by the world leader in lab-grown certification.

ISO certification is a prestigious assurance that a product, service or system in question meets specific requirements according to strict third party conformity assessment. Many companies and organizations seek ISO certification as a way of demonstrating that the organization has an effective quality management system in place.

IGI’s 45-year history of instilling confidence in shoppers starts with its world-class evaluation and grading of fine jewelry, gemstones, natural diamonds, and lab-grown diamonds, providing the public with trustworthy peace of mind for valued jewelry. Each piece certified by the Institute is accompanied by an IGI report that outlines specifics of the jewelry, including the all-important 4Cs (cut, clarity, color and carat weight) and is graded with the strict international standards and security features for which IGI is known. “We keep the end consumer top-of-mind at every stage of our work,” continued Lorie. “We share this prestigious recognition with our customers and pledge to continually be a resource of trustworthiness and confidence for the industry.” The common language of trust in the gemological world, a certificate from IGI allows customers the added transparency needed to buy jewelry with confidence, the Institute’s fifth C.
